Daniel Akst hits on something I often have said. If one has the ability, and the drive, and the skill, one should do something where one can make money. You can do infinitely more good for society with wealth than you can by pursuing a low paying career.

I am in no way disparaging those who do choose low paying careers to do good. But if one has the ability to create wealth, one should.
