His objection is that the book has been completely disproved. No details on that source have been provided. And all this time I thought it was the Republicans, led by Ashcroft and Bush who were the bastions of American censorship. It turns out, however, that John Kerry leads that list. Further, the Kerry campaign shows complete ineptitude. By challenging the book directly, and legitimizing its publication and existence as worthy of challenge, the Kerry campaign is only ensuring that another million copies of the book will be sold and additional airplay for John O'Neil on the news shows. Instead of the debate framing around Kerry taking on George W. Bush and his policies, it will center around a senator running for president versus an author. Brilliant.
How about this, Senator - we'll take you seriously when you take on a more obscenely inaccurate work coming from your side of the tracks. I think it was called Fahrenheit 9/11, by some fantasy novelist named Michael Moore. Request that all the reels of it be tossed into a bonfire, and all movie houses be forced to take it off the marquee. Further, go ahead and request that all the money that Michael Moore made off it be given to the Republican National Committee. Until you make this call, please call off your minions, who are now making truly 1984 inspired pronouncements in an effort to salvage your faltering reputation.
