Glenn Reynolds does a rundown on FactCheck.org's review of the Bush/Cheney ad attacking John Kerry's Intelligence Committee attendance.

Looks like the President is telling the truth (as usual), and Kerry is running from it (which is more usual). Now that the talk about Vietnam is falling apart, with swift boat veterans moving about wreaking havoc and Kerry not knowing where exactly the "Welcome to Cambodia" sign is located on the Mekong, the more liberal senator from Massachusetts is running low on message.

Kerry's lying about significant portions of his activity during his four months in Vietnam (an issue that Bush himself cannot rightly touch), and his complete lack of standing on issues of intelligence (batting .230 isn't good even in baseball), John Kerry has nowhere to go on national security, an issue which will continue to dominate the rest of the presidential campaign. His further flipping on his stance of troop reassignment doesn't help, either. For John Kerry, managing just over two weeks of consistency was impressive. Unfortunately for John Kerry, the presidential campaign had more than two weeks left in it.

What's even worse for Mr. Kerry is that the Bush campaign hasn't even begun examining Kerry's senate career in a public manner. More damage will be done when it does happen, no doubt.

The remaining issue, I suppose, is healthcare and the economy. Where Kerry can go on either is unclear. The upcoming job numbers will have a lot to do with Kerry's direction. The healthcare issue should be interesting - I did see a poll just recently where seniors were unconvinced that the Bush prescription drug plan had actually done anything for them.
