Either way, throwaway "If it's French it must suck..." type comments are nothing more than racism playing to the fools gallery.
-S9/23/2004 02:45:45 PM|||Nathan Moore|||Or, perhaps, the third option is that I have a sense of humor (hint, hint), and current French foreign policy has made a habit of coddling the most reprehensible of governments. Recent French history (post-Napoleon, but that's debatable)is not something to be proud of.
As to the other point, if you lived in Louisiana, you'd certainly be right. The rest of us, save matters in the federal courts (there is, of course, allegedly no federal common law), still live in a decidedly common law system.
And hey, not everything French is bad - they make good wine, and cheese.
