Why, certainly it would have to be the fine people of the blue states, as they care about the plight of their fellow man, look to uplift the downtrodden and underprivileged, and rue the conservative agenda for throwing women and children onto the streets! Meanwhile, those of us in the red states just collect checks provided by the wealthy blue tax payer, beat up a few gay people, burn a cross or two, and then drink some beers in our trailer. Nope. Charitable giving last year was dominated by red states. The wealthy people of Mississippi came in first, followed by states such as Oklahoma, Alabama, Arkansas, and Louisiana. The proud state of Tennessee came in sixth in the nation.
If Republicans are heartless morons who just want to line the pockets of Halliburton, how can these numbers make any sense? I guess that the blue states' unwavering belief in a nanny government results in no personal stake in helping others. The blues believe strongly in the institutions of welfare, social security, public housing and Medicaid to help the less fortunate. As long as the government is taking care of everything, why should they look to help any further? That's the problem with government playing the middle man when we should look out for one another directly. Families, neighbors, religious organizations and community centers used to serve a vital purpose but these groups are being squeezed out by federal programs.
Thank you, Tennessee and other red states for actually choosing to make an investment in the lives of others instead of trusting government to handle things while you sip on your frappachino, consider joining Eminem's "black hoodie" brigade (yes, that makes a powerful and convincing statement) and wail about "the Nazis" who just got reelected!|||110013117654494504|||Charity in the Red States
