Things are looking good at the state level here in Tennessee.

Bill Fletcher, who heads a Nashville consulting firm working with Democratic Senate candidates, says the legislative attack ads are more intense this year due to the lay of the landscape.

"We've encountered the perfect storm on the Senate races the likes of which we've never seen," he said.

Sounds good to me. It's conceivable that, with a good Bush turnout (which looks likely, if not an already foregone conclusion with the numbers released on early voting), the senate could swing Republican, and significant gains could be made in the house. If Jimmy Naifeh falls, a coalition government with a Republican speaker in the general assembly is not beyond the realm of possibility.

Tennessee is a solidly Republican state - we just need to make it official.
