There have been quite a few stories about the differing birthrates between blue and red states. You know the story -- we're having all the babies and then the taxpayers in the blue regions have to pay for our diapers and formula because we're lazy and stupid. They become so angry when the big government programs they love are supposedly being used to coddle those who vote the other way.

I really liked this blurb in Opinion Journal's "Best of the Web" yesterday:

There are significant fertility inequalities across regions. People on the Great Plains and in the Southwest are much more fertile than people in New England or on the Pacific coast. You can see surprising political correlations. As Steve Sailer pointed out in The American Conservative, George Bush carried the 19 states with the highest white fertility rates, and 25 of the top 26. John Kerry won the 16 states with the lowest rates.
