This is a topic I touch on every few months, but this article in the Washington Times greatly details the nonstop and anomalous military buildup by the ChiComs.
I know we are currently consumed with the War on Terror, and the proper response was to create a rapid response focused military that could meet and defend against the threat of a subversive nuclear attack. But if there is to be a confrontation, or simply a military standoff (which would ward off a potential confrontation) with China, perhaps it's time to look at our military needs again through the Cold War prism. A three ocean navy was never a luxury, and now, at least from my view, ought to be considered more a necessity.
Communist dictatorships do not arm themselves to the teeth for humanitarian purposes.
UPDATE Chinese oil concerns are something else entirely. Energy matters. The key is not to find new sources (though additional nuclear power capacity is the obvious answer), but to make good on the oil reserves we have which are tied up in environmental hyperbolic hysteria.|||111980748353181014|||Chinese Buildup
