Apparently, TBS's reality serious spinoff/spoof of Gilligan's Island has a rather risque marketing campaign. I ran across a story about the ad, which seems reminiscent of the Miller Lite ad, and Kenny Chesney's "Mud on the Tires" video (UPDATE: OK...I got some emails about this - Brad Paisley, not Kenny, which is fine, because I actually like Brad better anyway). What got me was this objecting comment from some anonymous blogger named "Amy"

"Shame on TBS -- not for producing soft porn, but for failing to also objectify men," a writer named Amy noted on a blog of her own.

Leaving aside the taste of the Gilligan ad, which I have not seen (and is probably much more harmless than reactionary feminist types would have us believe) - who wants to objectify men? Seriously. Objectively speaking, we are not a beautiful, suave or eloquent make of human being. I would be honored, quite honored, if someone wanted to objectify me.

UPDATE My wife concurs, and also wonders why anyone would ever objectify me. Alas.
