Rather than explain why he’s the only Republican candidate for federal office in the country to accept a campaign contribution, $5,000, from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW-COPE), Corker chose to attack 2002 gubernatorial nominee Van Hilleary for initially posing the question and labeled him a desperate hypocrite.
A tad vicious, but then again, this is a primary. The real reason I didn't expect this to come from the Bryant camp is this, this, and this. It appears that it is okay to accept money from labor unions as they are good unions. You know, like the ones who donate to you and not your opponent. Those such as the Marine Engineers Union, or the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. There are no large amounts in either of these contributions, but the point is that this was a cheap shot by the Bryant camp, and as such, was roundly ineffective.
In a further note, I do find it rather amusing that Van Hilleary was for Ed Bryant before he was against him.
(see this past post for the initial discussion regarding the labor donation's that started the press release hoopla let loose above).|||111991849666587636|||He Who Lives in a Glass House...
