Among other things, the first reading of the Metropolitan budget was last night, and contained, among other things, three significant tax increases. All for the children, of course. Though the school system is having a hard time figuring out how many employees it actually has, making the student/teacher ratio rather fuzzy, it doesn't matter. Let's just throw money on it.
As Bill Hobbs has already mentioned, there was a good meeting of Nashville bloggers yesterday with Lawrence Reed, whose free enterprise institute can be found here, who has, among other great things, designed and founded the web site MichiganVotes.org. The plan is to have a similar site up in Tennessee by the start of the 2006 legislative session.
Back to the budget - there were some protests, and the usual suspects in the council spoke, well, as they usually do. David Briley and Diane Neighbors seemed to be snickering uncontrollably. I guess it's funny when it's not your money that you're spending.|||111824161551897114|||Interesting Day
