Britain looks to extend war on terror

Perhaps we have to go back over four hundred years to see where the peoples of Spain and England diverged. Maybe it was the whipping of the Armada by the English at the hand of God that has made the country of Spain a whimpering sideshow of a nation. And conversely, perhaps it is the nation of whippers that have a greater destiny, and will maintain as a strong force for freedom in a world where darkness and tyranny, both of the body and mind, is always just around the corner.

"We have no option but to take these people on and to do it in unity with all civilized people throughout the world," he (Defense Secretary John Reid) said.

In a speech Saturday in central London, Prime Minister Tony Blair said authorities were facing an "evil ideology" in their struggle against Islamic terrorism.

"The greatest danger is that we fail to face up to the nature of the threat," he said. "It is a battle of ideas, of hearts and of minds, both within Islam and outside it."

"Civilized people" - I love it. CNN has a good summary of UK support for the War on Terror. Not only was George W. Bush right - so was Tony Blair.
