Speaking of Fred. If any of you head down to his birthplace of Sheffield anytime soon. Do yourself a favor and stop in at Swamp Johns seafood restaurant in Sheffield and order some of their fried catfish. You won't be sorry if you do!

I think he will challenge the conventional wisdom well. Unlike other candidates who enjoyed momentum before officially declaring their candidacy (Wesley Clark comes to mind), Fred isn’t an empty suit.

Indeed. I think Fred Thompson will definetly have a strong shot at the GOP nomination. However, the question that remains is will his appeal to the "nutroots" and talk radio crowd hurt him in the general? Rush Limbaugh may be the most popular man in radio, but its still a small minority of people who listen to and like him. If Thompson continues his campaign of ultra-Conservatism; I think he'll find the average American isn't quite as eager to have a more violent foreign policy, while maintaining the status quo on domestic policy.
