Harold White Signs: A Photo Essay (Part One)
When someone decides to put a candidate’s sign in his yard, he is saying, “I support this guy! I like what he wants to do for my community!” As one drives around the Hermitage area, it quickly becomes obvious that empty fields and land available for development are both in love with Harold White (if land masses are capable of such emotion). His actual, real-life neighbors … not so much.
Catherine and I took an expedition this afternoon to photograph some of White’s reelection signs.
Here is a lovely overgrown mess down the street from my house. The sign you see facing the street is advertising available retail space:
The sign next to Councilman White’s sign in this photo advertises the medical center coming this fall (I can’t wait!!):
Just to make sure another part of Central Pike didn’t feel left out, Councilman White has another sign placed in front of a home that is being sold to make way for commercial purposes:
Consider this my first installment of the multi-part photo essay “Harold White and Developers — A Love Story”. There are plenty more examples like the ones above, and I will be sharing them with you.
Meanwhile, take a look at Councilman White’s street of residence. When he first ran for Metro Council in 2003, this street was a flurry of yellow signs. The yards were practically carpeted in yellow. It was difficult to find any homes that didn’t proudly display signs for their neighbor, Mr. White. Things are different in 2007:
I know Councilman White has signs available for his neighbors, because I saw a bunch of them stacked against the side of his house. So, what gives? To be fair, there are still a few homes on the street with small signs proudly tucked against bushes. And, the councilman has a lovely display of his large signs in his yard.

[...] Sarah Moore notices a particular trend out Hermitage way. I have to say I’ve noticed the same trend. And it’s kind of annoying. Spread It Around: These icons link to social bookmarking sites where readers can share and discover new web pages. [...]

Harold White is breaking the law and using threats and intimidation in his sign warfare in Donelson and Hermitage in this Metro Council race.
Many of Councilman Harold White’s signs are placed illegally in the TDOT right-of-way. He has one placed on the new greenway property at Stones River Road near the Stones River bridge in Hermitage. Since he lies so much I guess he thinks it is acceptable for him to break the rules. After all who is going to stop him? He has threatened citizens and well as government employees.
Every other night I see that many of the opponent’s (Bruce Stanley)large signs are being kicked out in the middle of the night under the cover of darkness. White’s signs are never touched and sit only yards away. This is happening over and over in Donelson.
White’s buddies threatened a local gas station owner in Hermitage into removing a sign for the opponent placed at his business. Another older businessman in Hermitage said White drove to his house and threatened him if put up a sign for his opponent. This business owner had promised the opponent a place for his sign and refused White. There is no sign at all at the business now.
I was fooled by Harold White in the last election, but never again. We must do all that we can to make sure that this ring leader of the local mafia for the developers is not re-elected. (Loring is part of this group too. His signs are often found near White’s)
There is no place for this type of behavior in the democratic process that so many of my comrades gave their lives for. His behavior is a disgrace to Donelson, Hermitage and America. He needs to go ASAP!

Interesting how Harold White shows up in a neighborhood at election time to get pictured with the homeowners who are cleaning up their neighborhood, with the pretense that he is helping. He is so accustomed to helping developers mess up neighborhoods, how could he possibly know how to “properly” clean one up? Then we have the pushing of the “elderly button”, as if the mention of helping the elderly is a feather in his cap. Claims in his brochure mailer that he supports and raises funds for them. More properly put, he used $40,000 of taxpayer money that was to go for infrastructure improvements. Improvements needed where HIS developers are allowed to mess up an established neighborhood with over sized developments. I am one of those categorized as elderly, and I am sick and tired of him pushing that “elderly button”.

More Stanlet signs down in Donelson today. Kicked in by White’s Bully Brigade. Where does Harold White get his money?

Well said Robert! White cares nothing about his constituents! I have heard of other threatening as well. We can’t allow this man to ruin our communities any longer!!!

Councilman Harold White’s campaign is advertising on Craigslist for campaign workers to go door to door for White. They are even providing expensive portable DVD players. Where is this old fart getting that kind of money? Has he put Donelson and Hermitage up for sale?

This is nuts….why does everyone on here have something against Harold White? From what I have seen he is a good man. I don’t know if any of you saw on TV the other day the interview between him and Bruce Stanley.
What do you want for Donelson? The photos at the top show land that is overgrown and not being used. Basically its potential. But it is apparently wrong to develop some piece of junk and make it into a business that will provide money and jobs? I don’t understand how thats bad.
When I bought a place in Donelson, I got it becuase I saw 2 things. First, its lower prices made it easy to get a house that was a little nicer. Secondly, I saw room for growth in the community. All of us who own homes in Donelson should be happy that he is bringing in development into our community. Its making us money….but some of you want to complain about it.
And whats the deal with the DVD player things…they are like $50 at Circuit City….its not like he is renting out the Titans Stadium or anything…I think your just looking for stuff to complain about!

Harold White is a good and honest man. These signs are nothing more than a sign of the wide spread support he has throughout the community. Harold has worked his entire life helping other people. What has Stanley done? Where does Stanley live? What does he do? Have you ever seen him out in the community? Does he support anything? What is he for? Give me a break. Harold White is a good man. Vote for Harold White!

Obviously Austin (6/27) and Howard (6/28) have only seen the side that Harold White wants them to see. Yes, he can be a perfect gentleman when the situation warrants it. Then there is the bulling side when he wants something for the developers/land speculators he apparently considers his constituents as opposed to the citizens who actually live in a large portion of his council district. Take a look at
