Nathan Moore's Thoughts
Hillary Invokes…Thatcher?
Hillary Clinton is becoming more and more bizarre
with every passing hour
Clinton has been pretty explicit about the historic nature of electing a woman president lately, and today she brought up Margaret Thatcher, in response to a question about global warming.
“Guess who stepped to the plate in 1990. Margaret Thatcher,” she said of Thatcher’s early leadership on the issue, adding that the Iron Lady “happens to be a woman.”
“We had one leader — I don’t know how likable she was — we had one leader who made it a priority and got the job done,” she said of Thatcher.
Hillary Clinton has more in common with Dennis Kucinich than she does Margaret Thatcher. Unlike Hillary Clinton, Thatcher never subscribed to victim-seeking as her political modus operandi - in fact, when asked whether she was a feminist, Thatcher famously replied “I owe nothing to Women’s Lib”. Then she promptly ascended from leader of the Conservative Party to prime minister, carry her husband along with her.
If the topic is global warming, Hillary ought to be invoking our favorite pseudoscientific alarmist Al Gore. But she’s trying to make a powerful woman parallel here, and it flops miserably, which brings to mind another Thatcher quote, “Being powerful is like being a lady. If you have to tell people you are, you aren’t.”
What a spectacularly interesting four days! Since Iowa, whenever I witness Hillary Clinton on the campaign trail, I feel like I’m watching Britney Spears being hauled out on a gurney, prompting a certain feeling of pity, with a realization that train wrecks often happen in slow motion. What we are witnessing in the Hillary Clinton campaign is a train wreck of epic proportions.
