Nathan Moore's Thoughts
Hate Redefined – Please Don't Hurt His Feelings!
Bob Krumm hit upon something I had noticed, but never made the time to write about. There has been an onrush, particularly from the toilet-ready pages of The New York Times (they double-ply the editorial pages, I hear) denouncing those who gather to support John McCain as “angry”, or “hate filled”.
Hardly. Certainly, none of us in our individual right minds actually like Barack Obama (if you are prone to a collective right mind you most likely have already seized a donkey for him and poached some palm trees), and we are free, last I checked, to communicate it. The funny reality is the average Republican critique of Barack Obama is remarkably civil. “No-Bama” isn’t exactly the stuff of hate speech. Nor is yelling “treason!”, which one may disagree with, but certainly does not rise to the level of “hate”. Nor is calling him a “socialist”, as Bob also mentions. Democrats have long been socialistic, and until recently have been proud of it. The post-modern wordsmiths of the Left prefer such terms as progressive, whose linguistic offensiveness rests in the term’s complete gutting of its root word. The English language ought not be forced to suffer such horror.
In short, we have been nice to Mssr. Obama. Too nice, in this conservative’s opinion. for someone so dangerous and personally reprehensible, a smattering of rigged Philadelphia voting machines and ACORN voter drives away from the world’s highest elected office. Perhaps this will seal our downfall in this election. I certainly hope not. Half the truth surrounding Illinois’ junior senator has yet to be revealed, and contrary to the opinions regarding its relevance by the Obama faithful, the American people deserve to know it all.
