Local Republican Attorney to Speak Against English Only Amendment Tomorrow
Nashville Attorney and Former DCYR Chairman Nathan Moore to Debate Former DCRP Chairman Jon Crisp at Monthly Meeting of First Tuesday Group
Nashville, TN, January 5, 2009 — Nashville attorney, conservative activist and former Davidson County Young Republican Chairman Nathan Moore will be addressing the monthly gathering of the First Tuesday forum tomorrow, January 6, at the law office of Waller Lansden (511 Union Street, 27th floor). Mr. Moore will be discussing his opposition to Metro’s English Only initiative. Early voting on this proposed charter amendment is currently underway, with Election Day occurring on January 22. Mr. Moore will face off against Jon Crisp, former chairman of the Davidson County Republican Party and supporter of English Only. This event will mark the first public debate on the proposed charter amendment, and the discussion between these two Republicans is certain to be lively and
informative.
“There is a misconception that all Republicans favor the English Only initiative, which is now being disingenuously marketed by its supporters as ‘English First,’” says Nathan Moore, “In reality, this effort is wasteful to Metro taxpayers and useless in light of existing state law. True conservatives who believe in limited government and a restraint on spending have every reason to oppose English Only. I look forward to debating the issue with Mr. Crisp.”
First Tuesday, coordinated by Republican Tim Skow, meets monthly to discuss current issues affecting Nashville and Tennessee and often features prominent speakers. Lunch is served at 11:30am, with the speeches and discussions commencing at noon. For more information about the First Tuesday organization or to RSVP for lunch, please contact Mr. Skow at tdskow2001@yahoo.com.
