Sarah's Thoughts

GO TITANS! (Psst … Actually, go Steelers!)

Before Catherine was born, Nathan and I agreed upon a fair division of sports allegiances that we would try to impart upon our daughter. Nathan gets the Tennessee Titans and the Atlanta Braves. I get the Maryland Terrapins for both basketball and football (sorry, Catherine … it’s not looking so good these days). We share the Nashville Predators and Sounds.

I have tried to play along, even purchasing a generic Titans jersey for my daughter (as seen in this photo taken several months ago).

I want the Titans to make the playoffs, as this will make my husband happy. However, in the unlikely event that both the Steelers and Titans proceed far enough into the playoffs to face each other, I may have to sneak a Steelers t-shirt under Catherine’s jersey. That way, when the Steelers roll over the Titans with a convincing victory, Catherine can reveal the black and gold with pride. The girl needs something since my pathetic Terps are 6-6 so far this season, including two losses at home against non-ACC opponents. Maybe our baseball team is good this year …

He’s No Pac Man Yet…

If you’re not a Tennessee Titans fan, you’ll probably be better off just skipping this post. But anyway

CLARKSVILLE — A fight between safety Donnie Nickey and running back LenDale White erupted in the Tennessee Titans morning practice Thursday, prompting a severe tongue-lashing from Coach Jeff Fisher when it was over.

The first of two incidents involving the two players came at the end of a running play in team drills. The play was over after White carried the ball, when he and Nickey got into a shoving match, and Nickey took his helmet off and shoved it toward White’s face.

In video footage from WZTV-TV Fox 17, linebacker Keith Bulluck could be heard saying, “He spit in his face,” apparently referring to White.

A second incident occurred when a ball fell incomplete intended for White. Nickey then charged up from behind White, shoving him in the back. White then elbowed Vincent Fuller, who was nearby, then Cortland Finnegan became involved with the rookie running back. Nickey moved back into the fracas and he and White went at it. After it was broken up, Nickey walked toward the sideline and threw his helmet.

It’s hot here. Tempers flare.

We Get Young

Rich Eisen on the NFL network has announced the Titans will be selecting Vince Young.

I do hope the rumor is legit.

Nathan Moore's Thoughts

Cutler v. Young

Phil Ayers debates the merits of the Titans (who have the 3rd overall pick in the NFL draft) picking Vince Young over Jay Cutler. I have a soft spot for Cutler too, as Vanderbilt has actually produced the best college quarterback in the conference, and one of the best in the nation. But gee, Vince Young is Vince Young. Maybe I’m reading too much into the national championship game, but that performance against the supposed best football team in the country was unbelievable. He certainly has the tools for the next level. Undebatedly, in my view, Matt Leinert does not. Ryan Leaf and Andre Ware will be waiting to greet him on the other side.

So if the Titans pick Young, I’ll be happy. No one yet thinks Cutler is worth a #3 pick. That could change, though. However, if we get Matt Leinart, I think I’ll cry. And it’s never pretty seeing a grown man cry (over sports).
